The Bitterroot Valley is located in southwestern Montana, along the Bitterroot River, and is nestled between the Bitterroot Range and the Sapphire Mountains.  The Bitterroot Range and the Selway-Bitterroot Wilderness Area extend to the west of the valley while the Sapphire Mountains and the Anaconda-Pintler Wilderness Area extend to the East.
